Providing a virtual learning environment to
businessmen and women keen to hone their skills was at
the heart of Tony McGuire’s innovative project for his
management consultancy.
After turning to Business Link
Northwest for support, the organisation played a key
role in helping to bring his plans to
fruition.
Over the past 12 years Tony has built up his
client portfolio, but recognised that he needed to introduce a new system over the internet to enhance his
service and allow him to tap into a much wider market.
Following a two year dormant period for
personal circumstances, Tony turned to Business Link for support in effectively moving his business
forward.
The one-to-one business advice and coaching
that Tony offers works perfectly for his existing clients but he wanted to expand the service and take his
expertise to a wider audience.
After talking his plans through with a
Business Link Adviser it became clear that the best way to do this was to provide access via an online virtual
learning environment (VLE), the basic framework being funded by an Innovation Voucher.
The VLE could be accessed by an unlimited
number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that cannot afford consultancy prices but want to benefit
from Tony’s knowledge of business and management consulting services.
The Opal Consulting Virtual Learning
Environment is now working well, with a Business
Basics Questionnaire and several courses already
available.
